Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 August 2026
Halation (previously published as CAMCAM) is developed and published by Hugo Software ("we", "us"). This policy explains what happens to your data when you use the Halation Android application (package com.hugosoftware.camcam).
The short version: we collect nothing. Halation has no servers of ours, no accounts, and no analytics. Everything happens on your phone.
What we collect
Nothing. We do not collect, receive, store, transmit, sell or share any personal data.
Halation contains no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, no crash-reporting SDK and no tracking. The only third-party component is Google Play Billing, which Google operates to process the optional Halation Pro subscription. The app makes no network requests of its own.
Camera
The camera permission is the app's core function. The camera feed is used only to:
- draw the live viewfinder on your screen, and
- capture a frame when you press the shutter.
The video stream is processed on your device's GPU and is never transmitted or stored in the background. It is not sent to us or to anyone else.
Microphone
Halation does not request microphone access. Video is recorded without sound by the on-device encoder.
Photos and videos you create
Photos and videos you capture are written to your device's own storage when you choose to save them. They stay on your device. We never receive them, and there is no upload, backup or sync feature.
Purchases
Halation Pro is sold through Google Play Billing. Google processes the purchase and tells the app whether an active subscription exists. We never see or receive your name, e-mail address or payment details, and we keep no purchase records of our own. Google's handling of the transaction is covered by Google's own privacy policy.
Data stored on your device
The only thing Halation stores locally is your own saved Darkroom recipes — a short list of numeric settings and a name you chose. This never leaves your device.
Recipe share codes (the text beginning with CAM-) are generated on your device from those numbers. If you choose to paste a code somewhere, you are the one sharing it; the app does not send it anywhere and there is no recipe server.
Internet permission
The Android package declares the INTERNET permission because Google Play Billing requires it. The app's own features work offline.
Children
Halation has no accounts, no messaging, no user-generated content sharing and no data collection, so there is nothing for us to collect from anyone of any age.
Your rights
Data protection laws give you rights to access, correct, export and delete the personal data a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing to access or delete on our side. Uninstalling the app removes everything stored locally; an active subscription is cancelled in Google Play.
Changes to this policy
If the app ever changes in a way that affects this policy, this page will be updated before that version is released, and the date at the top will change.
